JAKARTA, Public Relations—Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat attended the inauguration of the Joint Secretariat and the launching of the podcast channel of the Alumni Association of the Law Faculty of Diponegoro University (IKA FH Undip) on Tuesday afternoon, August 17, 2021 from Jakarta. Chairman Ahmad Redi and managers of IKA FH Undip as well as several officials of the Law Faculty of Undip attended the event on premise or virtually.

“I would like to wish Happy 76th Anniversary to the Republic of Indonesia. May Allah SWT give His blessing for the advancement of the Indonesian nation according to state goals in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution. On this very happy occasion, let us pray and show gratitude to Allah SWT that, amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has lasted for almost two years, we are still in good health, safe, and can assemble in an extraordinary emotional bond through the IKA FH Undip,” Justice Arief said as Chairman of the Honorary Council of IKA FH Undip.

He said that under the new leadership, IKA FH Undip had developed rapidly. He expressed his pride and gratitude to the managers, both those with bachelor and master’s degrees, who had organized activities for the association.

“On this joyous occasion, I’m grateful that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the managers of IKA FH Undip are able to open a joint secretariat with satisfactory facilities,” he said.

Justice Arief also invited IKA FH Undip to flame the spirit of Diponegoro—serving the public, the homeland, and the nation. He also expressed his hopes that IKA FH Undip can develop the podcast to share Diponegoro’s spirit to motivate state leaders in facing various transnational ideologies that are contrary to Pancasila. The podcast will feature guests who can channel aspirations for Indonesia’s law that is based on Pancasila and the people and that serves the homeland and the nation, he said.

It was expected that through IKA FH Undip alumni can contribute in partnerships with the law faculty, such as in research projects, studies, and reviews on law as well as in public service in general.

Coexisting with the Pandemic

After the inauguration of the Joint Secretariat and the launching of the podcast channel of IKA FH Undip, Justice Arief Hidayat appeared in “Episode I: Spesial Podcast Perdana Rechtgressive” on the podcast as guest alongside host Wilma Silalahi, Secretary of the Honorary Council of IKA FH Undip. He was asked about the meaning of the spirit of independence in the face of COVID-19 pandemic, to which he answered: coexisting with the pandemic. He explained it as ensuring that oneself, one’s family, and one’s environment comply with the government’s health protocol, which includes washing hands, social distancing, avoiding crowds, and limiting mobility.

In the interview, Justice Arief also talked about the idea and background of the faculty’s podcast channel. He said that today social media is highly saturated with news, some of which might be misleading. Many social media accounts deliberately spread misinformation and hoaxes. Therefore, he said, it is important to communicate accurate information.

He added that misinformation was often regarded as truth as it was broadcast frequently. He then requested IKA FH Undip to create a podcast channel to give the public understanding and knowledge.
