BIMA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Anwar Usman delivered a speech on “Leadership in Islam and the Constitution” in an iftar (breaking-of-the-fast) dinner organized by Bima mayor Muhammad Lutfi in his residence, Sunday, April 25, 2021. The dinner, held with strict compliance to the health protocol, was attended by Bima City officials and Bima City MUI (Indonesian Ulema Council) chairman TGH Abidin H. Idris.
Anwar discussed the social custom of compliance to principles and the Constitution. “By doing this, we will contribute to the state in carrying out the rules and laws of the country. It can lead to a good legal system in that country. If the law in a legal state is abandoned, the country will fall because there is no legal system in it,” he said.
At the end of his short speech, Justice Anwar added that when the law is “sharp downward and blunt upward” (strict on the people but lax among those in power), the country’s administration will be destroyed. “Therefore, it is important that we comply with principles and the Constitution so that the state/nation runs well,” he added.
