JAKARTA, Public Relations—On behalf of the Constitutional Court (MK), the Head of the Public Relations and National Affairs Department Fajar Laksono S. welcomed the coordinator of the Indonesian Moot Court Community Association (HKPSI) Muh. Afdhal Alfarisyi and 19 participants virtually on Friday, March 5, 2021.
In the virtual audience, Afdhal stated that HKPSI is a moot court forum for law students, which started in Trisakti University. It aims at producing competent generations in justice and law enforcement. HKPSI stated its intention to become the Court’s partner in research and to help introduce the Court’s authorities, especially regarding the judicial review of laws and the election results disputes.
“The cooperation is important because, base on the last Constitutional Moot Court Competition (CMCC) by the Constitutional Court, there were only 45 participants in the three regions. Only 25 participants were from HKPSI. This indicates the low participation by HKPSI members,” Afdhal explained.
He expressed hope to form partnership with the Court in disseminating the Court’s procedural law to law students and the public through training, reviews, and workshops in order to realize the mandate of the 1945 Constitution.
Code of Ethics of Cooperation
The Head of the Public Relations and National Affairs Department Fajar Laksono S. welcomed HKPSI’s intention to form a partnership to improve constitutional awareness and disseminate the Court’s procedural law to the public. Therefore, the Court welcomes any party who intends to help further this mission, especially HKPSI, whose active members have enthusiasm that needs direction in discussion forums and interactions with courts such as the Constitutional Court.
“[The Court] welcomes any offer to become the Court’s partner, as long as the [partnership] fits the Court’s vision, mission, and objectives,” said Fajar alongside the Head of the National Affairs Division Yossy Adriva and their staff members from the Constitutional Court, Jakarta.
Fajar also said that the collaboration with the Constitutional Court focuses on the Constitution. Until today, the Court has signed 80 memorandums of understanding with various state institutions, universities, and other organization, followed up with a variety of programs that are within the corridors of collaborative activities with the Court.
“Because the Court is a judicial body, there is a certain code of ethics as guidelines. We are open to proposals of activities from any element of the community. Any proposal of activities can be submitted to and communicated with the Court. After the proposal is reviewed, it will be communicated with more details and direction,” he added.
