JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court (MK) held a celebration of Christmas and the 2021 New Year under the theme “… they shall call his name Immanuel” and the subtheme “God’s Justice be with Us in Joy and Sorrow.” The event took place at the hall on the Building II of the Constitutional Court on Friday, January 8, 2021. It is held online and offline with strict adherence to health protocols.

Chief Justice Anwar Usman, Constitutional Justice Manahan M. P. Sitompul, and Constitutional Justice Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh were present in person. Constitutional Justice of 2008-2013 Maria Farida Indrati and Constitutional Justice of 2003-2008 Maruarar Siahaan joined the event online.

Secretary-General M. Guntur Hamzah, Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Heru Setiawan, Head of the General Bureau Elisabeth, Deputy Registrar III Ida Ria Tambunan were present in person, while Christian staff members of the Court, as well as the Bhakti Luhur Orphanage (South Jakarta) joined the event online.

The chief justice in his speech said that the COVID-19 pandemic, which is a global crisis, is still within humans’ capabilities. “[What matters] is how we accept this life test,” he said.

Justice Anwar also said that our predecessors exemplified living in harmony and peace. This indicates that kinship among fellow humans has been going on for generations.
