JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court (MK) was still receiving revised petitions of the 2020 election of governors, regents, and mayors (pilkada) on Tuesday night, December 29, 2020. This time the revised petitions were submitted by Central Kalimantan and Jambi gubernatorial tickets No. 1 Ben Ibrahim S. Bahat–Ujang Iskandar and Cek Endre–Ratu Munawaroh.
Ben Ibrahim S. Bahat-Ujang Iskandar’s attorney Hermawanto said that aside from revising the text of the petition, his clients also submitted several pieces of evidence to support their allegation of violations by another candidate.
“We only revised the statement [where the petitioner] alleged there had been highly systematic violations or crimes during the Central Kalimantan Province election, which was ignored by the Central Kalimantan Province General Elections Commission (KPUD). Therefore, to the Constitutional Court we pin our hopes that justice is served and together we guard this democracy for future Indonesia,” he added.
Meanwhile, Cek Endre–Ratu Munawaroh’s attorney Elfano Eneilmy said his clients had reduced their arguments to match the violations that had occurred during voting. They also submitted 279 additional pieces of evidence to complete the 5 they had submitted the first time.
As of Tuesday night, December 29, 2020, the Court has received 135 petitions of the 2020 pilkada dispute—76 lodged online via simpel.mkri.id, 59 lodged in person. 114 petitions were filed by regency tickets, 14 by mayoral tickets, and 7 by gubernatorial tickets. The progress of the 2020 pilkada election dispute can be viewed on the Court’s website.
