JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court (MK) received revised petitions of the 2020 election of governors, regents, and mayors (pilkada) submitted by the legal teams of candidate pairs from various regions on Monday night, December 28, 2020.

Dhifla Wiyani, the attorney of Tri Suryadi-Taslim ticket of Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatera on Monday night submitted several pieces of evidence—documents, photos, and videos—to the Court’s registration unit to support the petitioner’s arguments regarding alleged violations by another candidate pair, such as the mobilization of state apparatuses (ASN) to vote for a certain candidate pair. The petitioner also alleged that another candidate pair claimed the central government’s program direct cash assistance (BLT) as theirs.

The petitioner, Dhifla said, filed their petition online. They benefitted from the online petition filing system, which facilitates petitioners at the regions to meet the three-day deadline set by the General Elections Commission (KPU). Dhifla also appreciated the 2020 pilkada dispute settlement taskforce for providing services even at night. She praised the services and communicative officers that help petitioners file their cases.

As of Tuesday afternoon, December 29, 2020, the Court has received 135 petitions of the 2020 pilkada dispute—76 lodged online via simpel.mkri.id, 59 lodged in person. 114 petitions were filed by regency tickets, 14 by mayoral tickets, and 7 by gubernatorial tickets. The progress of the 2020 pilkada election dispute can be viewed on the Court’s website.
