JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—To prepare for the dispute resolution over the results of the 2020 election of governors, regents, and mayors (2020 PHPKada), the Constitutional Court’s (MK) 2020 PHPKada task force took their oath on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the 11th floor meeting room of the Constitutional Court building. Based on the Decree of the Secretary-General of the Constitutional Court No. 312 of 2020 dated December 6, 2020, the task force will perform its duties since December 10, 2020 to April 10, 2021.

In his remarks, Secretary-General M. Guntur Hamzah stressed the need for the task force to observe strict health protocol amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “By keeping with the heath protocol, [God willing], we will be kept from COVID-19. There is no other way for us than to be optimistic in performing our duties following the health protocol during the pandemic,” he said.

He also said that in keeping with the health protocol, all parties that come into the courtrooms will have to take a rapid swab antigen test. Those without a rapid antigen certification will get tested by the Court.

“This is because the litigating parties will stand before the constitutional justices, so the protocol must be stricter,” said Guntur before around 280 staff and employees who joined the event both online and offline.

Guntur also said the coordinators must not shift blame should there be any issues. He also hoped no issue of integrity would occur and that all task force members can maintain integrity, discipline, dedication, and professionalism.
