JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Secretary-General M. Guntur Hamzah opened the education and training (diklat) for the preparations for the settlement of disputes over the results of the 2020 election of governors, regents, and mayors (pilkada) for civil servants (PNS), non-civil servant government employees (PPNPN), and outsourcing employees in the Constitutional Court (MK) virtually on Monday afternoon, December 7, 2020.
“This program is to unify the perceptions between pilkada participants and us in order to provide the best services to the public as justice seekers. It also serves to improve our understanding of the 2020 pilkada dispute settlement,” he said.
Guntur explained that the Court will handle the 2020 pilkada disputes from December 10, 2020 to April 10, 2021. He asked that the 2020 pilkada task force members inform their families that they were called to this noble service. “If cases remain by April 10, 2021, all task force members are to carry their work until they are finished,” he stressed.
Audit Board’s Recommendation
Guntur stressed that this program followed the Audit Board’s recommendation, as the Court previously only organized seminars and technical assistance programs, not education and training. This program not only provided materials on the process, but also the stages, procedure, and the attitude during the 2020 pilkada dispute settlement.
“All task force members should not only understand how to handle the cases, but also display behaviors reflective of a reliable judicial body. The Court must reflect justice naturally and offer justice to the people, not offer fake justice,” he said.
Guntur reminded the task force to exercise caution and implement strict health protocols while working amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and for the supporting system to wear a mask and gloves, to wash hands often and maintain a safe distance when working in public areas.
