JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Secretary-General of the Constitutional Court (MK) M. Guntur Hamzah spoke at a focus group discussion (FGD) on the “Monitoring and Evaluation of the Constitutional Court’s Decisions” on Saturday noon, November 14, 2020. The event, which takes place for three days (November 14-16, 2020), was organized by organized by Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta (UNS) in collaboration with the Constitutional Court, the Law and Human Rights Ministry, and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas).
Secretary-General M. Guntur Hamzah said that the Constitutional Court’s decisions are final, binding, and erga omnes (applies towards all). Therefore, the implementation is a focus to many. The Constitution stipulates that the sovereignty is vested in the people and implemented according to the 1945 Constitution. “This means that all state activities, including of its judiciary such as the Constitutional Court’s decisions, shall be carried out with a spirit of and in the context of constitutional supremacy,” he said. He added that the Constitution should be enforced together, so the Constitutional Court’s implementation must be monitored.
This FGD has been carried out a few times. The FGD laid out the indicators of the implementation of Constitutional Court decisions. “This FGD is a good opportunity to see how far the Constitutional Court decisions are followed up on by all components of society,” Guntur said.
Guntur hoped the FGD would give insight in the issue. The FGD’s outcome would be a report on the monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the Constitutional Court decisions. He added that all information on the Constitutional Court can be found on its website. The website contains all kinds of information and features that the public might need swiftly, in real-time, and accurately. He added that the Court’s decisions are accurate.

A virtual focus group discussion (FGD) on the monitoring and evaluation of the Constitutional Court’s decisions already took place on Saturday, October 10, 2020. The event was organized by the Constitutional Court in collaboration with the Center for Pancasila and Constitutional Studies (PUSKAPSI) of the Law Faculty of Jember University (UNEJ).
