JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Anwar Usman received the Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana award from President Joko Widodo on Wednesday noon, November 11, 2020 at the State Palace, Jakarta.

“This award is thanks to the work and support from the Secretary-General and his staff, the Registrar and his staff, the structural and functional officials of the Court, and all staff members of the Constitutional Court, including the constitutional justices. It is the fruit of our cooperation so far, and a blessing for our patience,” the chief justice said at the hall of the Court after receiving the award.

Deputy Chief Justice Aswanto also received the same award, which he saw as a motivation to work professionally in guarding the Constitution. “The awards that we receive means that we shouldn’t be lax in guarding the Constitution, protecting human rights, as referred to in the Constitution,” he said.

On behalf of the Constitutional Court staff, Secretary-General M. Guntur Hamzah offered congratulations to the six justices who received the awards from the government. “We are proud of the constitutional justices who received the Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana and Bintang Mahaputera Utama awards, [some of] the highest awards from the state. The awards are an extraordinary thing and are an honor for all [Constitutional Court] employees. We are happy and joyful for this achievement. This is the first time for constitutional justice to be honored with Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana and Bintang Mahaputera Utama during their term.”

Aside from the chief and deputy chief justices, Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat also received Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana, while Constitutional Justices Wahiduddin Adams, Suhartoyo, and Manahan M. P. Sitompul received Bintang Mahaputera Utama.

Chief Justice Anwar Usman is the chief justice for 2018-2021, while Deputy Chief Justice Aswanto is the deputy chief justice for the same term and has been a constitutional justice for 2019-2024. Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat was a chief justice in 2015-2018 and has been a constitutional justice for 2018-2023. Constitutional Justice Wahiduddin Adams has been serving as a constitutional justice for 2014-2019 and 2019-2024. Meanwhile, Constitutional Justices Suhartoyo and Manahan M. P. Sitompul have both been serving for 2015-2020 and 2020-2025.

On Wednesday, November 11, 2020, President Joko Widodo honored 68 national figures with awards. Military Commander (Retired) Gatot Nurmanto is among those who received the awards. The awards will also be given to several former ministers of the Working Cabinet of the previous administration. Among them are former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ignasius Jonan, former Minister of Communication and Informatics Rudiantara, former Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti, and former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (PMK) Puan Maharani.
