JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court’s Secretary-General M. Guntur Hamzah attended a House Commission Hearing Meeting (RDP) with the House Commission III on Monday, September 14, 2020. The meeting discussed the Constitutional Court’s preparedness to handle the disputes over the 2020 simultaneous regional head elections (Pilkada).

Guntur said that the pilkada will be held in December this year, while the dispute resolution will be held in January to March next year. The Constitutional Court is still held up by budget, which hasn’t received approval from the House. “The [Court’s budget proposal] hasn’t been approved by the House for case resolution, starting from technical guidance programs to Pilkada case resolution,” said the secretary-general before the House Commission III meeting leaders.

The Court hopes its proposed budget will be approved so that it can start with preparations right away. Guntur also informed the commission that the Court has been selected to host the fifth World Conference on Constitutional Justice (WCCJ) in 2022.
