JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court (MK) once again received an unqualified opinion (WTP) for the tenth time. The award was announced virtually by the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati at the 2020 Government Accounting and Financial Reporting national working meeting (Rakernas) organized by the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. Secretary-General M. Guntur Hamzah and several structural and functional officials of the Constitutional Court attended the event, which was under the theme "The Challenge of State Financial Accountability in Handling the COVID-19 Pandemic and National Economic Recovery" from the meeting room at the Constitutional Court.
Sri Mulyani expressed her appreciation for the increasing number of unqualified opinion, which was given to 84 ministries/agencies/regional governments this year, an increase from 81 in the previous year. She hoped that this can be maintained and even improved. This is an indicator of the improving management of ministries, agencies, and regional governments in carrying out their financial responsibilities.
“Hopefully units and ministries that haven’t received an unqualified opinion take effective and measurable steps in following up on the BPK’s recommendations in a comprehensive manner so that going forward, the financial reports will be better and can be accounted for properly,” she said before delegations from over 80 ministries, agencies, and regional governments.
Aside from the Constitutional Court, the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), the House of Representatives (DPR), Riau Province, Aceh City, Palembang City, Nagan Raya Regency, West Lampung Regency, and Jepara Regency also have received an unqualified opinion ten times in a row. Awards were also handed to ministries, agencies, and regional governments that have received an unqualified opinion five times in a row.
Entering the 2020 financial reporting, awaiting audits by the Audit Board (BPK RI), Sri said Indonesia is facing challenging conditions, especially in the health sector with programs to accelerate health and economic recovery due to the pandemic. However, these matters must not neglect the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance for the benefit of the people.
The event will take place for two days from September 22-24, 2020. The agendas of the event include the opening of the national working meeting (Rakernas), the handing over of the WTP awards, the handing over of BMN Awards, and a talk show. Sri Mulyani said that the meeting’s theme is highly relevant to the current COVID-19 pandemic. She also thanked ministries, agencies, and regional governments for their synergy to realize state financial responsibility. This state financial reporting, she added, is to maintain the proper, accountable, and transparent use of state finances.
Before concluding her remarks, Sri hoped that the meeting and awards would improve the learning and synergy among ministries, agencies, and local governments and improve their use of state finances. She also hoped that they continue taking leadership steps by safeguarding the community through good and optimal financial management.
