JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—To prepare for the dispute settlement of the upcoming 2020 Simultaneous regional election (Pilkada), the Constitutional Court (MK) held a pre-simulation meeting to prepare for petition reception at the hall of the Constitutional Court on Monday (6/7/2020).

The meeting was monitored by Deputy Chief Constitutional Justice Aswanto, Constitutional Justice Saldi Isra, Constitutional Justice Suhartoyo, along with Chief Registrar Muhidin, Head of the Center for Information and Communication Technology Budi Achmad Djohari, as well as Junior Registrars I, II, and III. Justice Aswanto said that the meeting was aimed at a unified perspective on case reception based on the existing procedural law. “We must have a unified perspective [about matters] starting from NUP [or petition queue number] to petition reception,” he said.

The delay of the upcoming 2020 simultaneous regional election (Pilkada) due to COVID-19, now set for December 9, 2020, was stipulated in the Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) No. 2 of 2020. The newly set election date was decided based on the recommendation of the National COVID-19 Mitigation Task Force through letter No. B-196/KA GUGUS/PD.01.02/05/2020 dated May 27, 2020. (Utami/LA)
