JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court (MK) decided to hold an offline hearing in the Plenary Courtroom of the Constitutional Court in a coordination meeting for court hearing between the justices, the chief registrar, the secretary general, and the officials on Friday (24/4/2020) through video conference. All nine justices in attendance unanimously agreed on prioritizing the judicial review of the petition on the Government Regulation In Lieu of Law (Perppu) Number 1 of 2020 regarding the State’s Financial Policy and Fiscal Stability for the Mitigation of COVID-19.
The hearing will be carried out as usual, in compliance with the Constitutional Court Regulation (PMK) No. 1 of 2020, following health protocols during the pandemic. “We agreed on carrying out the hearing in one room with changes in the courtroom layout, adhering to the existing health protocols,” Chief Constitutional Justice Anwar Usman explained to all parties in attendance.
Deputy Chief Constitutional Justice Aswanto explained that the hearing will be held offline by applying physical distancing, following the health protocols by the Ministry of Health and the WHO. “The panel hearing will be carried out [offline] but we must comply with the Government’s regulation regarding physical distancing. It also serves as a role model for the public that we also comply with the Government’s regulation,” he added.
Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah expressed his preparedness to execute and follow up on the results of the coordination meeting. (Panji/LA)
