SEMARANG, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat and Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah attended the professorship inauguration of State University of Semarang (Unnes) Law Faculty lecturer Martitah, Tuesday morning (10/03/2020). Other professors were also inaugurated at the event: Issy Yuliasri (Faculty of Languages and Arts), Wara Dyah Pita Rengga (Faculty of Engineering), and R. Susanti (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences).

Both Justice Arief Hidayat and Secretary General Guntur are Unnes honorary guests as both are lecturers who peer-reviewed Martitah’s works. In her remarks during her inauguration as a constitutional law professor at the Wuryanto Auditorium of Unnes, Semarang, Martitah specifically talked about the existence and role of the Constitutional Court (MK) in the state life in a presentation entitled “The existence of the Constitutional Court as the Guardian of the Constitution to Achieve Social Equilibrium.” The Constitutional Court balances the social equilibrium. The Constitutional Court decisions are proven to be able to form a harmony of social interactions within a heterogeneous, multi-ethnical society.

Martitah said such decisions include those which ruled the inclusion of religion in the e-ID among adherents of indigenous faiths, child born out of wedlock, and the minimum marriageable age for women.At the end of her speech, Martitah expressed her view that the Constitutional Court through its decisions, including those in which it acts as a positive legislature, has been able to perform its role in maintaining social equilibrium.

Justice Arief Hidayat and Guntur Hamzah expressed their appreciation and congratulated Martitah for her highest career achievement as an academic. (FLS/PE/LA)
