JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Students and lecturers of Surabaya University (Ubaya) Law Faculty visited the Constitutional Court (MK) on Thursday (6/2/2020). They were welcomed by researcher Andriani W. Novitasari at the hall. She talked about the enforcement of constitutional law, which is not only done by the Constitutional Court, but also state agencies and citizens.

She explained that in concept, the Constitution is marked by Pancasila as the nation\'s philosophical basis. It is also marked by the presidential system as the structural basis that is stipulated in the Constitution, including the national objectives implemented in the political policies. Meanwhile, operationally, the Constitution is reflected in the real life of the nation and the Government, the political parties, mass organizations, and society.

Andriani said that one of the Constitutional Court\'s main duties is to implement the constitutional law and the 1945 Constitution so that it fills in the gaps between norms contained in the Constitution and the reality of constitutional political life.

She mentioned the impeachment of President Soekarno and President Abdurrahman Wahid, who was not done through a legal mechanism, but to a political one. Now it is one of the Constitutional Court\'s duties to decide on the House\'s opinion in relation to impeachment of a president.

The Constitutional Court, which was established on August 13, 2003, has a number of authorities: reviewing laws against the Constitution, deciding on authority disputes between state institutions whose authorities are given by the Constitution, deciding on the dissolution of political parties, deciding on disputes on election results, and deciding the opinion of the House if the president and/or vice president are suspected violating the law.
