JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court (MK) visited the Transmedia Grup (CNN Indonesia and Detik.com), Thursday (6/2/2020) at Transmedia building, Jakarta. Chief Constitutional Justice Anwar Usman, Chief Constitutional Court Registrar Muhidin, Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Heru Setiawan, and Head of the Public Relations and Domestic Cooperation Department Fajar Laksono were welcomed by CNN Indonesia Executive Director Titin Rosmasari, Detik.com Editor-in-chief Alfito Deannova, and CNN Indonesia\'s board of directors.

Chief Constitutional Justice Anwar Usman said that the media had contributed to the success of the 2019 elections results disputes settlement, therefore the Constitutional Court often makes official visits to media offices. He expressed his hope for continuous cooperation between the Court and the media. "CNN and Detik.com often report about the Constitutional Court to the public. For this, we thank you," he said.

Justice Anwar hoped the media would continue supporting and observing the Court in performing duties other than elections results disputes settlement, such as the judicial review. He also hoped that the media could help educate the public on the judicial review. "Moreover, the Constitutional Court cannot oversee the implementation of its decisions," he said. He revealed a research by Trisakti University that looked into the implementation of Constitutional Court decisions, which only reaches 54%.

"We hope that the Transmedia Group can help enlighten the public. Based on the results of a Trisakti research, only 54% of the Constitutional Court decisions are implemented. This shows non-compliance with the Constitutional Court decisions. Not rejection, because it could be that people do not know and [do not] understand the Constitutional Court decisions," Justice Anwar explained. He said this led to the Court visiting the media, including the Transmedia Group, as the media is seen as having close relations to the public.

Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Heru Setiawan said that the judicial review cases that the Court has decided are interesting and relevant to the public, but largely unknown because of lack of socialization. "We really need creative contents like CNN\'s. After a judicial review, it needs to be disseminated so that the public knows that a law produced by the House and the Government is being reviewed at the Constitutional Court and this is important [for them] to know," he explained.

Alfito welcomed the Court\'s intention and hoped to be able to improve cooperation with the Constitutional Court. According to him, both CNN Indonesia and Detik.com can help socialize the Constitutional Court decisions through news that can reach the wider community. He explained that CNN Indonesia has collaborated with several institutions, such as the BKKBN. "CNN manages the news content at Transmedia. CNN also has several collaborations such as with BKKBN. For example, we can broadcast news about the Constitutional Court decisions," he said. (Lulu Anjarsari)
