JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Anwar Usman visited Media Nusantara Citra (MNC Group) and was welcomed by Executive Commissioner Hary Tanoesudibjo and several MNC Group editors-in-chief, Friday (31/01/2020) at iNews Tower, Jakarta.

Justice Anwar said that declining budget of the Constitutional Court in 2020 would influence the work units in the Constitutional Court, including that which is tasked with promoting the Court to the public. "Many people and even state officials do not understand the Constitution and the Constitutional Court," he said.

Therefore, through its 2019 Annual Report, the Constitutional Court conveyed to its media partners what it achieved in 2019 and what it will do in 2020, including the challenges that it faces. Nevertheless, Justice Anwar stressed, the Constitutional Court will still carry out its mandated tasks, including adjudicating simultaneous regional head elections in 270 regions.

The Chief Justice talked about the important role of the media to supervise and promote information about the Constitutional Court.

iNews director Ray Wijaya request that television news crews could be given a vantage point in the courtroom as their news reporting is important for the public. Ray revealed that in the presidential election results dispute hearing, his crew did a live broadcast for 21 hours, but because they did not get a strategic location, they were forced to do live a broadcast in the middle of the road.
