Suhartoyo and Foekh Sworn In as Constitutional Justices

JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Suhartoyo and Daniel Yusmic Pancastaki Foekh took an oath to office as constitutional justices for 2020-2025 before President Joko Widodo, Tuesday (7/1/2020) at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.

Foekh was selected after nomination by the President and selection by a constitutional justice selection committee. He took office after Constitutional Justice I Dewa Gede Palguna’s second term of office ended on January 7, 2020. His appointment was based on the Presidential Decree No. 1/P/2020 on the Honorable Discharge and Appointment of Constitutional Justices Nominated by the President.

Constitutional Justice Suhartoyo, whose term of office ended on January 7, 2020, was re-nominated by the Supreme Court as constitutional justice based on Presidential Decree No. 141/P/2019 on the Appointment of Constitutional Justices Nominated by the Supreme Court.

Foekh is one of three candidates that the selection committee proposed to President Joko Widodo. He previously taught Procedural Law of the Constitutional Court at Atma Jaya University. He was also an active member of both the Constitutional Law and State Administrative Law Lecturers Association (APHTN-HAN) of DKI Jakarta and the Association of Lecturers on Procedural Law of the Constitutional Court (APHAMK).

The East Nusa Tenggara-born man is also an alumnus of the 2017 technical guidance program of the Constitutional Court for lecturers and educators in the Association of Deans of Indonesian Law Schools (APPTHI) organized by the Pancasila and Constitution Education Center of the Constitutional Court.
