AMMAN, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Efforts to protect Indonesian citizens, wherever they are, are a constitutional mandate that must be carried out properly. Moreover, increasing the protection of Indonesian citizens abroad is one of the top diplomatic priorities that needs to be done through cooperation between ministries and state institutions. Therefore, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Indonesia (MKRI) Anwar Usman visited the residence of the Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan in Amman on Thursday (19/12/2019).
Chief Justice Anwar was welcomed warmly by Ambassador Andy Rachmianto, who had once assisted the justice when visiting the Constitutional Court of Jordan. In addition to exchanging information about their main duties and functions, Justice Anwar and the ambassador also complement each other\'s knowledge on the history of the Kingdom of Jordan. During the meeting, Andy also briefly revealed that the residence status of Indonesian illegal migrant workers in Jordan has been a common issue. He said that the Indonesian Embassy has a policy of repatriating Indonesian citizens in such cases.
Justice Anwar expressed his hope for the Indonesian Embassy’s support for the MKRI’s effort in initiating a bilateral relation with the Constitutional Court of Jordan.
The chief justice had already expressed his hopes for cooperation between the MKRI and other constitutional courts of Muslim-majority countries to the Deputy Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Jordan Mansour al-Hadidi. Justice Anwar also believes that Jordan is an appropriate country to study democracy and tolerance in the Arab world and in Asia in general.
