JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court (MK) once again welcomed Ombudsman officials on Friday afternoon (20/12/2019) at the 11th floor of the Constitutional Court. Head of the Ombudsman’s Public Relations and Information Technology Bureau Wanton Sidauruk stated the reason for his visit in relation to video conference and the Dynamic Archival Information System (SIKD).

"We need more information about our chance to utilize video conference and SIKD facilities. We have purchased equipment to support video conference but we do not have the application yet, so we still use a very limited application," Wanton said.

Head of the General Bureau of the Constitutional Court Mulyono responded positively to their inquiry. He said that in principle the Court is ready to help the Ombudsman and it is very important for state institutions to collaborate.

"Through the MoU between the Court and Ombudsman, we agreed to improve the capacity of [both] institutions. This meeting is a follow-up to the MoU. The MoU is the [umbrella] in which there are several activities, for example cooperation on video conference and Dynamic Archival Information System," said Mulyono.

Head of the Court’s Center for Information and Communication Technology Budi Achmad Djohari said that the Court would welcome the Ombudsman to use its video conference facilities. However, according to him, a Cooperation Agreement must be made beforehand. "In [the agreement] we will detail the things for the cooperation. The focus is the rights and obligations of the Constitutional Court and the Ombudsman," Budi said.

With regard to the SIKD, Budi said, initially it came from the Minister. "After we study [it], we customized it to the Constitutional Court. Now the results have exceeded the initial product. [We welcome] the Ombudsman’s intention to work with us," he said.

Regarding the application of SIKD in the Ombudsman, the Court is ready to help as the SIKD can be directly utilized by the Ombudsman without influence by other institutions. As for the video conference application, Budi said, the most practical, easy, and cheap application is the Jabber.

"Regarding [video conference], for example, we cooperated with the KPU, Bawaslu, and DPR. It can be directly applied, connected to each other. When the Ombudsman wants to use [video conference] with a number of universities, you can connect to the Constitutional Court. The Jabber is not too difficult. Only a laptop, a camera, and others are needed, at a cost that is not too high," said Budi. (Nano Tresna Arfana/NRA)
