Amman, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Chief Constitutional Justice Anwar Usman and his entourage visited the Constitutional Court of Jordan in Amman, Thursday (19/12/2019). The Constitutional Court of Indonesia (MKRI) considers the Constitutional Court of Jordan to have a strategic role in democracy of the Arabs. Chief Justice Anwar hopes there to be exchanges of knowledge between the two constitutional courts through this bilateral meeting, as judicial institutions in Asia and Muslim-majority countries. In addition, he officially invited the Constitutional Court of Jordan to participate in the Indonesian Constitutional Court International Symposium (ICCIS). The MKRI is one of the three permanent secretariats of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC) and host of the ICCIS.

Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan in Amman, Andy Rachmianto, accompanied the MKRI delegation, who was welcomed by the Deputy Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Jordan Mansour al-Hadidi, Justice Numan el-Khatib, and the Head of the Public Relations Department Alaa al-Shaara. In the meeting, Justice al-Hadidi revealed the Jordanian Constitutional Court’s participation not only in the Arabs, but also in Germany and France. He believes that the Jordanian Constitutional Court serves in balancing the understanding of the civil state and of Islam as a state religion (two features of national and state life in Jordan).

At the direction of Jordan\\\'s King Abdullah II, the Constitutional Court of Jordan was asked to welcome the constitutional courts of foreign countries. Justice al-Hadidi admitted that his institution was trying to improve cooperation with the constitutional courts of other countries, in response to the MKRI’s request for support to host the sixth World Conference on Constitutional Justice (WCCJ), which is planned to be held in 2024.
