CALLAGHAN, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) constantly strives to develop the human resources within the Registrar\'s Office and the Secretariat General. One of the efforts is through a double degree program equivalent to M.H., LL.M in cooperation with the Republic of Indonesia, Brawijaya University, and the University of Newcastle, Australia. During their working visit to the University of Newcastle, Australia, Constitutional Justices Suhartoyo and Saldi Isra met with the Law Faculty Dean of the University of Newcastle Tania Sourdin and the Law Faculty Dean of Brawijaya University, Malang Ali Safaat to finalize the plan on Thursday afternoon (5/12/2019) at the University of Newcastle, Callaghan, Australia.
The three parties agreed that the double degree program would be carried out for one year at Brawijaya University, Malang and one year at the University of Newcastle, Australia. In addition, employees who qualify for the program will be funded by the Australia Awards. While undergoing the program in Australia, participants will also intern and conduct research and discussions with law faculty students from various countries. It is expected that with this program, the Constitutional Court staff will be able to improve their capacity and competence in the field of law with international standards, thus provide optimal support to the implementation of the duties and functions of the Constitutional Court.
The delegations also agreed on meeting with the Australia Awards to discuss the technicalities of the program before signing a memorandum of understanding next year. (HS/LA)
