JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Constitutional Court (MK) Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah with Head of the Sub-department of International Cooperation Immanuel Hutasoit and Head of the Sub-department of AACC Permanent Secretariat Indah Apriyanti welcomed the Max Planck Foundation Director Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Rüdiger Wolfrum in the Delegation Room of the Constitutional Court on Wednesday (4/12/2019). The visit followed a prior visit by the Max Planck Foundation senior researcher Imogen Canavan.

In his remarks, Guntur expressed the intention of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) to strengthen cooperation between the two parties. The MKRI and the Max Planck Foundation had attended the same international seminars and the MKRI had made a working visit to the Max Planck Foundation in Germany. "We are very interested in making a cooperation agreement with the Max Planck Foundation, especially regarding research and publication," said Guntur.

Wolfrum, who arrived with the Max Planck Foundation researchers Pierandrea Leucci and Imogen Canavan, welcomed the MKRI\'s wishes. He also asked about the topics that the MKRI intends to research.

In response, Guntur explained that the MKRI is interested in a variety of constitutional issues, both in the social, economic, cultural, judicial, and human rights fields. The MKRI hoped that the Max Planck Foundation could facilitate the MKRI researchers in their research by holding conferences and joint publication.

Wolfrum said that he would prepare a proposal and expect a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two parties so that the cooperation established had legal force. "We will prepare a proposal and the MoU. By the end of this year we will send it to the MKRI," he explained. (Sri Pujianti/NRA)

At the end of the meeting, Wolfrum and Guntur both hoped that cooperation between the two parties in the future could also involve various related parties such as the German Embassy for Indonesia, Judges of the German Constitutional Court, who were mostly academics, and other parties involved. have the same interests as research conducted by the Max Planck Foundation and MKRI researchers.
