PERTH, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Constitutional Justices Suhartoyo and Saldi Isra paid a working visit to the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT, equivalent to PTUN or State Administrative High Court in Indonesia) in Perth, Australia, on Monday afternoon (2/12/2019). During the visit, SAT Justice Bertus de Villiers met both constitutional justices. During the meeting, Justice de Villiers talked about the City of Perth and the history of the SAT.

Justice de Villiers explained that the SAT building reflects easy legal access, simple justice, qualified judges, and alignments for each individual. In addition, the courtroom was built in such a way that reflects equality before the law through, as all tables and chairs were arranged to be at the same level.

Justice de Villiers also revealed that 20 justices at the SAT adjudicated around 4,500 cases per year, or 200-250 cases per justice per year.

Explores Potential for Cooperation

As part of the working visit, the MKRI delegation also visited Curtin University. Curtin University Dean Robert Cunningham welcomed the MKRI delegation to discuss cooperation potential. The MKRI currently cooperates with institutions in the Netherlands and Germany for recharging program and internship.

The MKRI delegation explored potential cooperation with Curtin University to develop both programs. In the visit, both delegations agreed on meeting to discuss the plan further.

The MKRI delegation also met with former Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia Robert French. At the meeting, the MKRI delegation received an explanation of the duties and functions of the High Court of Australia, which has similar authority to the MKRI, that is, examining laws that are considered unconstitutional.
