BOLO, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—In celebration of Mawlid Nabi, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Anwar Usman delivered a sermon on "Leadership According to Islam and the Constitution" in Tumpu, Bolo, West Nusa Tenggara (9/11/2019). Anwar began his sermon by saying that Prophet Muhammad SAW had noble characteristics. He became a role model throughout the world throughout the ages.

Anwar said that rank and position actually belong to Allah. "Leaders are already recorded in lauhul mahfudz [where God’s decrees are kept]," he said.

He asserted that position is only but for a moment and a burden for anyone including himself as Chief Constitutional Justice. He said a person can fail to fulfill their duties and responsibilities as a leader because they are unable to maintain the mandate or because they are not qualified.

Anwar advised that leaders must be trustworthy, righteous, responsible, strong, and good at keeping their responsibilities and knowledgeable about their duties and leadership. (Utami/NRA)
