JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court (MK) organized a focus group discussion (FGD) on "Brainstorming by Experts/Academics in Changing Constitutional Court Regulation and Evaluation of the 2019 General Elections Results Dispute," collaboration between the Constitutional Court and the Law Faculty of Udayana University at the Hilton Bali Hotel, Wednesday (6/11/2019).

Chief Constitutional Justice Anwar Usman opened the FGD. In his remarks, Anwar explained that the FGD was an evaluation for the Constitutional Court after completing the General Elections Results Dispute (PHPU) case settlement in 2019. "Although some stated that the Simultaneous Elections had run quite successfully, it should not make us careless but introspective. We must continue evaluating and improving," he said.

According to Anwar, this FGD also focused on the design of the election implementation, which is substantially regulated in the General Elections Law. The discussion focused more on formal law governing procedural law in the implementation of the settlement of PHPU cases in the Constitutional Court. "In addition, [this activity will] also discuss facilities, infrastructure, and activities that need to be carried out by the Constitutional Court in order to facilitate PHPU. Hopefully simultaneous elections in the future will improve," he added.

Anwar also hoped that the culture of integrity is continuously applied and developed by all components of the Court Constitutional. For the Court, integrity is non-negotiable. With integrity, the Court will be able to provide the greatest contribution to fair elections. "To be able to create decisions of justice, moral integrity of the constitutional justices is needed. Moral integrity requires the judiciary to be based on logic as an honest, clean, and independent court, while the integrity of knowledge determines the quality of legal considerations in decisions," he concluded.

Deputy Chief Justice Aswanto, Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat, Constitutional Justice Manahan M. P. Sitompul, Constitutional Justice Suhartoyo, and Constitutional Justice Saldi Isra also delivered presentations in the FGD. Lecturers and doctoral students from around Bali were also in attendance.
