BALI, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—As the Permanent Secretariat of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC) for Planning and Coordination, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) continuously striving to share ideas, experiences, and intellectual thoughts in the development of the constitution in the world. The MKRI held The 3rd Indonesian Constitutional Court International Symposium (ICCIS 2019), Short Course, and Call for Papers under the theme “Constitutional Court and the Protection of Social and Economic Rights” starting from Monday (4/11/2019) in Nusa Dua, Bali.

In his remarks Chief Justice Anwar Usman said that Bali was chosen not without reason. Besides being well-known as a tourist destination, Bali is also an area that provides inspiration for many visitors. According to him, the warm sunshine of the morning along with the blue sky in the City of Gods might prove to be a refreshing moment for the parties in conflict.

"Likewise, hopefully the rural and mountain atmosphere along with the friendliness of Balinese will inspire constitutional justices, researchers, registrars, and academics to discuss in order to expand knowledge of the law and constitutions of the world," Justice Anwar explained before the eight other constitutional justices of the MKRI and representatives of AACC member delegations such as Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan, India, and the Maldives, as well as researchers from various other friendly countries.

Through the ICCIS, Short Course, and Call for Papers on November 4-7, 2019, hopefully the participating countries can form better relations to improve the role of the MKRI and similar institutions in protecting the constitutional rights of citizens in the world. (Sri Pujianti)
