BALI, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Chief Constitutional Justices Anwar Usman and Chairman of Constitutional Council of the Republic of KazakhstanKairat Mami Abdrazakuly signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) and the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Saturday (2/11/2019) in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat, Constitutional Justice Enny Nurbaningsih, Secretary General of the Constitutional Court M. Guntur Hamzah, Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Heru Setiawan, and several staff members of the Constitutional Court of Indonesia were in attendance. Deputy Head of Department of the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan Nurysh Tasbulatov were present at the event.

The signing of the MoU was based on the effort to strengthen and create a framework for cooperation between the Indonesian Constitutional Court and the Kazakh Constitutional Council as well as to strengthen the protection of human rights, to improve democracy, and to enforce the rule of law in both countries. The MoU regulates the exchange of information and experiences in constitutional law; the exchange of decisions from each courts as well as other legal products; the plans for conferences, congresses, seminars, and/or other activities related to justice and the law; institutional capacity building through official visits, professional courses, joint internship, and research programs; as well as other fields of cooperation.
