Udayana University Wins East Regional Constitutional Moot Court Competition

MAKASSAR, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Udayana University (Unud) Bali won the first Chief Constitutional Justice Trophy for the 2019 East Regional Constitutional Moot Court Competition at the Muslim University of Indonesia (UMI) Makassar, Wednesday (16/10/2019). The second place was won by Sam Ratulangi University (Unsrat) Manado.

The jury of the 2019 East Regional Constitutional Moot Court Competition also declared four teams that would go on to compete nationally: Sam Ratulangi University, Hasanuddin University, Udayana University, and Alauddin Islamic State University (UIN).

The 2019 East Regional Constitutional Moot Court Competition took place on Tuesday-Wednesday (15-16/10/2019) at UMI Law Faculty, Makassar. Twelve teams participated, from the Muslim University of Indonesia, the University of Indonesia, Halu Oleo University, Trunojoyo University, Hasanuddin University, Sam Ratulangi University, Merdeka University of Malang, Surabaya State University, UIN Alauddin Makassar, Udayana University, Jember University, and East Jakarta UPN Veteran.

The competition was collaboration between the Court and the Association of Lecturers on Procedural Law of the Constitutional Court (APHAMK) and the Muslim University of Indonesia (UMI). The program opened with a national seminar on "The Idea of GBHN Reform in the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia" at the Al-Jibra Auditorium of UMI, Makassar on Tuesday (15/10/2019).

The jury consisted of 12 members. They are Fajar Laksono Soeroso, Pan Mohamad Faiz, and Ahmad Edi Subiyanto from the Constitutional Court; Ahmad Sudiro, Toenjoeng Herning Sitabuana, Ahmad Redi, and Cut Memi from Tarumanagara University; Sunny Ummul Firdaus, Ilhamdi Taufik, and Ardilafiza from APHAMK; Azkari Razak and Muin Fahmal from UMI; and Okky Burhamzah and Marwati Riza from Hasanuddin University.

The Constitutional Court had previously organized the West Regionals at Lampung University on Tuesday-Wednesday (1-2/10/2019) and the Central Regionals at Muhammadiyah Surakarta University (UMS) on Tuesday-Wednesday (9-10/10/2019).

Four winning teams from the West Regionals are those from Bengkulu University, Lampung University, Padjadjaran University, and Jakarta Islamic University. Bengkulu University and Lampung University won first and second place.

Four winning teams from the Central Regionals are those from Sunan Kalijaga Islamic State University (UIN) Yogyakarta, North Sumatera University, and Lampung University. UIN Sunan Kalijaga and North Sumatera University won first and second place. (NRA)
