PRAGUE, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI), led by Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat, met with Indonesians citizens at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in the Czech Republic on Thursday (3/10/2019). The delegation was welcomed by Ambassador to the Czech Republic Kenssy Dwi Ekaningsih and Indonesians currently residing in the Czech Republic. The delegation intended to exchange ideas and experiences and establish cooperation with the embassy with a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
Kenssy also stated that Indonesia and the Czech Republic had established good relations and mutual cooperation. So far, both countries have worked together on executive and political levels, so cooperation between the Constitutional Court of Indonesia and the Czech Republic will complete the relationship between the Indonesian and the Czech governments on executive, political and judiciary levels.
During the visit, Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat also explained the functions and important roles of the Constitutional Court, as well as current democratic developments in Indonesia. He emphasized that the problem in the nation today was because the democratic system in Indonesia adhered to the Particular Human Rights and Universal Human Rights. The Universal Freedom of Human Rights refers to the human rights of the world community, while the freedom of Particular Human Rights refers to the freedom of human rights developed in Indonesian society. "These two notions of democracy develop in society and even affect the life of the nation and state in the political, economic, and legal aspects," said the Diponegoro University professor.
According to Justice Arif, the Indonesian people held on to unlimited freedom and exercised their human rights based on Pancasila, which respect for each other. However, this gave way to invalid reporting and information that did not match facts, which was spread through social media and the internet. "If this condition is left unchecked, Indonesia will disintegrate. Therefore, to maintain the integrity of Indonesia, we all must make Pancasila the single Ideology and maintain the preamble to the 1945 Constitution," he concluded. (HS)
