JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Max Planck Foundation senior researcher Imogen Canavan visited the Constitutional Court on Monday afternoon (23/9/2019). She was welcomed by Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah with Head of the Center for Research, Case Review, and Library Management Rubiyo and several Court researchers. During the visit, Canavan expressed her appreciation of The 1st International Expert Meeting 2019 organized by the Court on Friday-Saturday (20-21/9/2019) in Serpong, Tangerang.

She hoped that the Max Planck Foundation can work closely with the Constitutional Court, after listening to Guntur\'s presentation on the paperless office implemented by the Court. Previously Guntur had explained that the Constitutional Court had adjusted to the development of information technology. He pointed out online applications intended for justice seekers outside Jakarta.

"The Constitutional Court is only located in (the capital) Jakarta. With this online application, petitioners can directly submit their petitions from their hometowns without having to go to the Constitutional Court in Jakarta," said Guntur.

Guntur also explained about video conference facilities in 42 universities throughout Indonesia offered for the petitioners to attend the Constitutional Court hearing directly. Another breakthrough by the Court as modern justice is to upload the decision shortly after it was passed as well as transcripts and audio recordings of the court hearings. "This shows the Constitutional Court as a modern and [transparent institution]," said Guntur.

Canavan expressed her admiration for the easy access to justice and the court. She believed the Constitutional Court could lead an example for judiciary in the world. She also conveyed that the German Government would welcome the progress made by the Court and that the Court could improve cooperation with the Max Planck Foundation and the German Government. After the event, Canavan handed an annual report on researches conducted by the Max Planck Foundation, while the Court presented her with the English version of the 1945 Constitution in.
