JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court (MK) welcomed 47 students and 4 lecturers of PPKn (Pancasila and Civic Education) major of FKIP (state-teaching education faculty) of IKIP (Teacher Training and Education Institute) of Veteran Semarang (Ivet Semarang) on Thursday (19/9/2019). Researcher Winda Wijayanti delivered to them a presentation on constitutional and democracy officials.
In her presentation, Winda talked about the Constitutional Court and its authorities to review laws against the 1945 Constitution as part of its function as guardian of the Constitution. She also mentioned some of the most frequently tested laws: the Criminal Code, Election Law, District Governance Law, Money Laundering (TPPU) ACT, and Regional Election Law.
In relation to the authority to decide on interagency disputes, she stressed that not all state agencies can file interagency dispute petitions. Only those whose authorities are guaranteed by the 1945 Constitution can do so.
After the presentation, Winda opened a question-and-answer session for students and discussed the Indonesian constitutional system. The program ended with the presentation of a plaque by the institute and a photo session. (Louisa/LA)
