JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Anwar Usman stated that no citizen is free from existing laws and regulations.

"Even from birth to [death] one is never free from legal issues or the laws that govern [them]. Starting from when we wake up in the morning until we go to bed, [we are subject to] laws and regulations," Justice Anwar said in the opening socialization to improve citizens\' awareness of constitutional rights for professional organizations organized by the Constitutional Court on Tuesday (17/9/2019) in Sentul, Bogor.

For example, Anwar added, upon birth or death, citizens are obligated to register for birth certificates and death certificates as stipulated in Law No. 24 of 2019 concerning Population Administration.

"Likewise, those who work in a profession are also not immune from laws and regulations governing the profession. More than one law regulates a particular profession, for example, a judge is regulated through the Constitutional Court Law, the Supreme Court Law, the Law on Judicial Power, and so on," Justice Anwar explained to 79 participants.

Justice Anwar added that the notary profession is bound by the Notary Law, Civil Code, and other relevant laws. Legal arrangements in every aspect of human life can be said to be natural.

Secretary General of the Constitutional Court M. Guntur Hamzah said that the Constitutional Court functions as guardian of the Constitution, guardian of democracy, guardian of state ideology, protector of human rights, protector of constitutional rights of citizens, and final interpreter of the Constitution. When the Constitutional Court passes an interpretation, it becomes an official interpretation of the state.

Guntur explained the Court as a judicial institution that passes final and binding decisions shall promote understanding related to the decisions of the Constitutional Court. In an effort to increase public access to information, understanding related to citizens\' constitutional rights and justice, the Constitutional Court held various activities.
