JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Forty-three Diponegoro University students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Economy visited the Constitutional Court, Tuesday (10/9/2019). They were welcomed by researcher Anna Triningsih in the Conference Room. The students were informed of the authorities of the Constitutional Court and those who may litigate at the Constitutional Court.
Anna explained that the Constitutional Court is authorized decide on the dissolution of political parties under certain conditions, one of which is that the petition is submitted by the attorney general. "A political party may be dissolved if the vision, mission, and implementation of the organization is considered contrary to the 1945 Constitution and the Republic of Indonesia," Anna said.
Anna explained that the Constitutional Court is authorized to decide on disputes over regional election (pilkada) results until a special body is established to handle it. The parties who can file a petition to the Constitutional Court are Indonesian citizens, customary law communities, private and public legal entities, as well as state institutions.
Anna said that the Court strives to be a modern judiciary. Today, anyone who intends to litigate at the Court may register on its website, any time, from anywhere. The Constitutional Court also offers facilities for students throughout Indonesia to upload various research materials from cases that have been submitted and decided to the Constitutional Court.
To facilitate the Petitioners and other relevant parties in the hearing, the Constitutional Court also offers long-distance trial through video conference in 42 law faculties in Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua.
