Constitutional Court Ready for International Symposium

BALI, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) held the Coordination Meeting and Field Inspection for the Preparation of the 2019 International Symposium in Bali, Friday (6/9/2019). The meeting aimed at ensuring the preparation for the meeting of the secretary general and board of members meeting of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC), call for papers, short course, and international symposium to be held in November 2019.

Chief Justice Anwar said all parties must work together for the success of the international symposium. "The [success] of this event is certainly in [your] hands so we facilitate it from the center. After the success of the AACC Congress in 2016, the Constitutional Court expects to receive support and assistance for all parties involved this year," he said. 

President of the AACC for 2014-2016 and 2016-2017 Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat also requested security support from the military and police. "The security aspect is not only maintained at the time of the event but also at before the event. Please secure lodging for all delegates according to VIP standards," he said. 

Justice Arief also talked about the promotion of Indonesia including Bali during the international symposium. The local government can help with the event by utilizing development of tourism in Bali-Indonesia today. "Preparations for the event must follow this meeting. I am sure the support of all existing agencies can help succeed this truly extraordinary event," he said.

Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah also discussed the security of foreign delegates. He said the delegates will be assigned special barcodes for all information on lodging, documentation, and the international symposium. "All the information for the arrival of foreign guests must be prepared. There will be special barcodes for information on the delegates for lodging as well as the entire international symposium agenda," he explained. 

Guntur added, in accordance with the Constitutional Court\'s vision as a modern judicial institution in globalization 4.0, the delegates will also receive a special ID card with a barcode so that all materials as well as documentation during activities can be accessed via smart phone. 

In addition to the international symposium, the Constitutional Court will also held a quiz program in the Bangbang Village, Tembuku, Bangli, Bali—inaugurated as a constitutional village as a form of appreciation for the village administration that plays a role in fostering public awareness of the Constitution.
