PALEMBANG, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Constitutional Court (MK) Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah opened and spoke in the Workshop on the Management of Globally-Indexed Scientific Journals, Friday (30/8/2019) in Palembang, South Sumatera.

In his opening address, Secretary General of the Constitutional Court Guntur Hamzah said that the Constitutional Court had concern in academic development because the Court handles numerous cases in many fields. Guntur hopes that there will be more accredited journals. "One of the goals must be a legal journal getting indexed in Scopus," said Guntur.

Guntur also added that to support the academic climate in the institution, the Constitutional Court made a breakthrough by offering the Constitution Awards to the best legal journals and writers with the best articles in the field of law.

The Court also provides funding support for competitive research, the publication of 25 book titles, and scientific publications. "The target is more quality articles in the fields of law, constitution, human rights, and democracy. The end result is an increase in the quality of Indonesian human resources," Guntur added.

Guntur revealed that since 2004, the Constitutional Court had published the Constitutional Journal, which is currently accredited by the Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI) with the status of SINTA-2. The Constitution Journal is published every March, June, September, and December with 10 articles per edition. In 2015, the Court also published the Constitutional Review journal. This journal is in English and is projected as an international journal focusing on constitutional issues with a global perspective. Constitutional Review is targeted for Scopus indexing. The Constitutional Review journal is published every May and December with 6 articles each edition.

Head of the Center for Research, Case Review, and Library Management Rubiyo in his report said that this event was held by the Constitutional Court in collaboration with Sriwijaya University. He said that this activity was the second workshop held in 2019.

The first workshop by the Constitutional Court in 2019 was held in Gorontalo and the second in Palembang with 59 participants. The participants were journal managers and law faculties who did not yet have a journal. The activity aimed to improve scientific work and scientific writing, which is then published in journals so as to be a reference among legal academics. (Ega/Hamdi/LA)
