JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—In order to improve work culture after the 2019 General Elections Results Dispute (PHPU 2019) settlement and coinciding with the 16th anniversary of the Constitutional Court (August 13), the Constitutional Court (MK) held a series of activities on Wednesday (14/8/2019). This activity was held at two separate places, both at the yard of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economic Affairs—where fun cycling started, and physical fitness exercise and tug of war was held—and the Ground Floor Hall of the Court for table tennis and chess competitions. All of these activities were attended by constitutional justices as well as staff members of the Constitutional Court.

The event was officially opened by Deputy Constitutional Justice Aswanto with a fun cycling circling the National Monument (Monas). After several months from May to early August 2019, the energy of Court staff members had drained in the preparation to the resolution of the presidential and legislative election cases. Therefore, Justice Aswanto hoped that this series of motivational activities would help the staff members to relax and exercise, so as to renew their enthusiasm for upcoming proceedings.

"In addition [expressing the Court’s] gratitude, this event also shows that the Constitutional Court family [has solidarity]," Justice Aswanto said alongside Constitutional Justices Arief Hidayat, Wahiduddin Adams, Manahan M. P. Sitompul, Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah, and other structural and functional officials of the Constitutional Court.

The General Bureau was the MVP after winning the tug of war and chess competitions. The Public Relations and Protocol won first place in physical fitness exercise. Bayu Wicaksono of the Media Division won kerupuk (crackers) eating competition. Sairil and Sodik of the Building Management Division won the men’s double table tennis, while the women’s single table tennis was won by Elizabeth.

The event, which ran from 07.30 to 14.00 WIB, was the Court’s expression of celebration and gratitude for its 16th year of service. Since 2003, the Court continues to learn and grow as a modern and trusted guardian of the Constitution. The Court has worked on important national events from handling regional election cases in 2004, direct presidential elections in 2009, to simultaneous general elections cases in 2019.
