JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court (MK) dismissed the petition of Papua Province 2019 legislative candidate Paus Kogoya No. 250-00-33/PHPU.DPR-DPRD/XVII/2019. That was the Decree of the Constitutional Court, which was conveyed by plenary chairperson Anwar Usman, before the other constitutional justices in the ruling hearing on Tuesday (6/8/2019).

Regarding the Petitioners\' petition, the Constitutional Court issued a Decree of the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court about the Formation of a Panel of Justices to examine the case. Then, the Constitutional Court held a preliminary examination to examine the completeness and clarity of the petition’s material and to verify the Petitioner\'s evidence.

Paus Kogoya as General Chairperson of the Lapogo Customary Territory of Papua Province argued that the 2019 Election had many shortcomings, as the people\'s right to be elected was not implemented. The Regional Election Committee took over and won only certain political parties. The rights of the people who were supposed to vote were not given.

In addition, the noken system did not run properly because all the ballots and ballot boxes were taken by the Regional Election Committee before they arrived at each polling station (TPS). In the April 17 2019 elections the ballots and ballot boxes were only intended for the regency. As for the Provincial DPR, DPD, and the Presidential elections, they kept [the ballots and ballot boxes], and it was not clear when the ballots were marked. (Nano Tresna Arfana/LA)
