JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court (MK) held a preliminary examination of the 2019 DPR-DPRD (House of Representatives-Regional Legislative Council) legislative election results dispute (PHPU) of South Sumatera Province. In the hearing of the petition No. 24-01-06/PHPU.DPR-DPRD/XVII/2019, the National Awakening Party (PKB) questioned the vote acquisitions of the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Crescent Star Party (PBB) on the 2019 Legislative Election in South Sumatera.

"For PKB and PBB’s votes for Pagar Alam Municipality DPRD, based on the KPU’s decision, PKB received 1,771 votes and PBB received 1,798. There is a margin of 27 votes," said PKB’s attorney Wigati Ningsih in the hearing held on Friday (12/07/2019). The hearing was presided over by Justice Aswanto, with Constitutional Justices Saldi Isra and Manahan M. P. Sitompul.

According to PKB, the vote count results by the KPU (Respondent) were inaccurate. According to PKB, the correct vote acquisition is 1,771 votes for PKB while PBB received 1,759 votes, PKB winning 12 votes over PBB.

The panel of justices also examined the petition No. 209-07-06/PHPU.DPR-DPRD/XVII/2019 submitted by the Berkarya Party. The Berkarya Party\'s attorney Agung Syahputra revealed an incident in the Banyuasin electoral district (Dapil) 4.

“We have submitted a written objection in the recapitulation process at the Banyuasin Regency level, dated May 7, 2019. We found inflation of 2,158 votes by the Golkar Party at polling stations in four sub-districts of Dapil Banyuasin 4. This ballot stuffing is very detrimental to the Petitioner," said Agung.

Therefore, In the petitum, Berkarya Party requested the annulment of the KPU\'s Decree on the results of the legislative election in Dapil Banyuasin of South Sumatera, and to be declared that the Election of DPRD members in Dapil Banyuasin 4 was full of fraud, and they asked the Court to order the KPU for a revote.

The Panel also examined petition No. 106-10-06/PHPU.DPR-DPRD/XVII/2019 submitted by the United Development Party (PPP). PPP stated that the acquisition of PPP seats in the South Sumatra DPRD has decreased from 2 seats to 1 seat. (Nano Tresna Arfana/NRA)
