JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Facing the 2019 Legislative Election Results Dispute (PHPU) hearing, a candidate for the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Electoral District of North Sumatera, Faisal Amri, through attorney Muhammad Habibi, submitted additional evidence to the Constitutional Court. He alleged ballot stuffing by the Respondent (the General Elections Commission/KPU) in stages. The Respondent in question is the South Nias District KPU, the Medan Municipal KPU, and the Central Tapanuli KPU.
"We submitted [evidence] to prove ballot stuffing by the Respondent in stages and the reduction of votes for our client, Faisal Amri," explained Habibi when submitting the additional evidence at the Constitutional Court on Monday afternoon (08/07/2019).
Habibi explained that the Petitioner claimed a loss of 932 votes. "However, according to our calculations, the ballot stuffing involved 1,500 votes and [it] becomes our additional evidence," he said.
When registering the petition on May 31, 2019, Habibi submitted additional four copies of the petition along with a letter of attorney, a list of evidence, 38 pieces of evidence, and C1 forms in accordance with the arguments in petition.
Habibi revealed that the focus of the Petitioner\'s petition included two things. Firstly, ballot stuffing by the Respondent (KPU), which benefitted another candidate, and affected the Petitioner’s vote acquisition. Secondly, reduced votes for the Petitioner, affecting the Petitioner’s order as a DPD candidate. "The margin between the Petitioner and the Respondent was 142 votes," Habibi explained.
