JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court (MK) held a ceremony to present insignias to the Constitutional Court security guards on Friday evening (5/7/2019) on the second floor of the Constitutional Court. Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah symbolically presented the Gada Utama, Gada Madya, and Gada Pratama insignias to the Constitutional Court security guards.

“One of the important and strategic duties of the security is to guarantee the safety of the justices and all staff members of the Constitutional Court,” Guntur said before the security guards and the attending members of the National Police. Head of the General Bureau of the Constitutional Court Mulyono and Head of the Constitutional Court Security Team AKBP Murry Mirranda were also present.

Guntur added that the security guards’ role is crucial during big events, such as the 2019 presidential and legislative elections results dispute (PHPU) resolution.

"We must truly provide the best services, as dedication to the nation and country. All rules, principles, orders, and regulations as well as SOPs and procedures must be implemented," said Guntur.

Guntur asserted that insignias for Constitutional Court security guards were an affirmation that all police officers and security guards were ready to maintain security at the Constitutional Court. "The commitment must comply with the Constitutional Court regulations and shows the accountability to the Court. Therefore, the code of ethics in the Constitutional Court should be implemented. Everything was under control during the presidential election results dispute resolution. It shows that the Court is safe," Guntur explained.

Guntur added that in the near future the Court will hold legislative PHPU resolution. "We are required to be vigilant in safeguarding legislative election results dispute (resolution). Do not lose performance only because the presidential election has finished, "Guntur said.

Equally important, Guntur added, are four important aspects that must be considered by the Constitutional Court staff, in this case, the Constitutional Court security guards, in anticipating the legislative PHPU hearings. First, integrity in security.

“There is possibility that the candidates would [bribe] the security team with money. I hope no one accepts things that are not from the Constitutional Court. They must be rejected. Services must be for free. The state has provided sufficient funding,” said Guntur. The three other aspects are discipline, dedication, and professionalism. (Nano Tresna Arfana/NRA/FS/YW)
