JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Central Information Commission (KIP) visited the Constitutional Court Friday (14/06/2019) to discuss about information transparency. The KIP representatives were Chairperson Gede Narayan, Head of the Research and Documentation Division Romanus Ndau, and two staff. They were welcomed by Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah with Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Heru Setiawan and Head of the Legal and Registrar Administration Bureau Wiryanto at the 11th flood Meeting Room.
Gede Narayan stated that the KIP intended to find out about transparency of public information at the Constitutional Court. He also expressed the intention to find out about the Court’s consistence in maintaining transparency of public information. “So far, the Constitutional Court has always been leading in transparency of information, even placing first during assessment [by] KIP,” he elaborated.
In response, Guntur stated that the Court maintains transparency in all elements through optimization of modern technology. He showed the Court’s website, which indicates this. “On the Court’s website, the public can access all kinds of information. Therefore, they do not need to come to the Court directly to find documents. All is available for download on the Court’s website,” he explained.
Guntur also elaborated on the information available on the Court’s website, such as courtroom hearing transcripts, which are uploaded on the website 30 minutes after the hearings finish, at most. He also talked about the Court’s magazine Konstitusi, which is published in print and digitally. The digital version of the magazine is available for download on the Court’s website.
Guntur also explained about video conference that the Court manages, which is aimed at facilitating litigants who cannot be present in the Court. The Court currently manages 42 video conference spots in campuses all around Indonesia. He also mentioned the application Hubungi MK. “In this application, there are various features to facilitate the public to keep in touch with the Court,” he explained.
He said that all the above are in line with the Court’s vision to become credible, modern judiciary, which requires transparency in providing information for the public. “Therefore, we prepared complete infrastructure to realize transparency of information for the public,” he clarified.
