Sanggau DPRD Candidate Conveys Plenary Results

JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The National Mandate Party (PAN) through attorney Muhammad Miftahudin completed the petition for a Sanggau District Legislative Council (DPRD) candidate, Marulak Marbun, at the Constitutional Court (MK) on Friday (31/5/2019). "We submitted C1 forms and plenary results from the sub-districts and districts. All document for the petition is already complete, not one file is missing," Miftahudin explained.

Dapil 2 DPRD candidate for Sanggau District, West Kalimantan Marulak Marbun is challenging the results of vote acquisition announced by the Sanggau District Election Commission (KPU). The Petitioner argued that a certain party committed ballot stuffing, which caused the Petitioner to not earn a DPRD seat. "There is 103 ballots stuffed, according to our calculation. We should get the last seat, but the Indonesian Solidarity Party committed ballot stuffing," Miftahudin said.

On the same day, a North Sumatra Regional Representative Council (DPD) candidate Faisal Amri through attorney Muhammad Habibi submitted additional document to the Constitutional Court. "Today, as attorney [I] submitted additional document [and] made it into four copies as required along with a power of attorney. [The document] includes a list of evidence and 38 pieces of evidence," Habibi explained.

Habibi said that his party also submitted C1 forms in accordance with the Petitioner’s argument. Habibi explained that his party is challenging two issues to the Court. First, ballot stuffing by the KPU (Respondent), thus benefiting other candidates and influencing the votes obtained by the Petitioner. The second issue is reduced votes, which affects the order of the Petitioner as a DPD candidate. The vote margin between the Petitioner and the other candidate is 142 votes," Habibi said.
