JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The United Development Party (PPP) Central Executive Board’s (DPP) through their attorney completed the the petition document for the 2019 legislative election dispute in six provinces, namely West Sumatra, Aceh, South Sulawesi, South Sumatera, Maluku, and Papua.

“All the electoral districts have interesting issues. For example, there was discrepancy between C1 form and DA1 form and reduced votes at the sub-district election,’’ said Chairperson of the PPP central executive board’s (DPP) Legal Aid Institute Angga Brata Rosihanwhen completing the document at the Constitutional Court (MK) on Thursday evening (30/5/2019).

Angga added, the PPP candidates’ loss of votes did not occur within the party, but caused by other political parties, which means that all the cases are external. "As for internal matters, we can solve it within our own party. However, what happened to our House of Representatives (DPR) candidate in South Sulawesi Dapil (electoral district) 3 has become our particular concern. Interestingly, some of our votes are missing but ballot stuffing occurred in other parties," Angga said.

Angga explained that a lot of the reduced votes of PPP candidates occurred at the Sub-district Election Committee (PPK) in three districts, namely Toraja, North Toraja, and Tanah Toraja.

The PPP candidates will challenge to Court in July 2019. Angga was very optimistic that the Court would grant the petitions of the PPP candidates.

On early Friday (31/05/2019) the Court received additional petition files from the DPP of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) through attorney Diarson Lubis. He explained that he submitted 2019 legislative election dispute petitions for eight provinces out of the 20 provinces that PDIP challenged.

"Ballot stuffing often occurred. In Papua, if the petition is granted, it can increase the vote acquisition for 2 seats for PDIP in the House," he said. (Nano Tresna Arfana/LA/FS/YW)
