JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—Although the deadline to complete the 2019 election results dispute (PHPU) documents was May 30 at 24.00 WIB, petitioners and their attorneys still flocked to the Ground Floor Hall of the Constitutional Court to complete their petition documents on Friday morning (31/5/2019).
One of them was the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) whose attorney Anton Aryadi came to the Court to add seven petitions: Dapil 4 of Papua Province, Dapil 1 of Puncak District, Dapil 1 of Mappi District, Dapil 1 of Yapen Islands, and Dapil 1 and 2 of Lanny Jaya District.
Anton said that there were issues in several dapil, such as ballot stuffing, which resulted in the loss of PKS’ candidates’ votes, such as in Papua Province and Yapen Islands. In Yapen Islands, it resulted in a margin of 79 votes.
In addition, Anton explained that the party requested a revote. The General Elections Commission (KPU) allows the implementation of the noken system in elections, which is subsequently used in 14 districts/municipalities in Papua. “In Puncak District dapil, for example, the votes were declared valid in the village and recorded by the head of hamlet, but the sub-district declared not in line with the village record. This violated the spirit of togetherness,” said Anton, who came with one of PKS’ candidates from Yapen District, Bangsawan Arsyad.
Three Dapil
The National Awakening Party’s (PKB) attorney Dendy Zuhairil Finsa also came to the Court to submit several pieces of evidence, the revised petition, and the letter from the central executive board (DPP) on the submission of the 2019 legislative PHPU petition. When interviewed, Dendy said that the party added three regions—South Sumatera, West Papua, and Donggala.
Dendy added that in South Sumatera there was an issue at the polling stations (TPS) in five sub-districts, in that the votes calculated by the Sub-district Election Committee (PPK) do not correspond to those in the polling stations. In West Papua, there was a discrepancy in the vote number, especially at the PPK. “However, there was also a different number of votes due to ballot stuffing by rival candidates, which exceeded the number of voters in the C1 form,” Dendy explained.
