JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court held an iftar for all staff on Tuesday (7/5/2019) at the building of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Jakarta. The constitutional justices and Court staff and officials attended the event.
In his address, Chief Justice Anwar Usman expressed his gratitude that the Constitutional Court had acquired more offices at the 3rd and 4th floors of the building of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. “Thank God the Government temporarily loaned us part of the building of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, which we will acquire in the future.”
Justice Anwar also talked about the importance of piety. “Piety means carrying out all of God’s commands and staying away from all that He prohibits. In a few [weeks] we will carry out an enormous duty of handling the presidential and legislative elections disputes,” he said.
“When carrying out that duty, let us show the country and nation, especially God, that it is a means of worship for us. [By doing it] we are carrying out our duty as guardian of the Constitution as well as God’s subjects,” he added.
Ustadz Darwis Hude delivered a sermon on “Fostering Individual and Social Piety” to around 300 staff members of the Registrar’s Office and Secretariat General of the Constitutional Court. He made an analogy with the pencil. “The pencil is a simple object that contains everyday life philosophies,” he said.
“The pencil is always loyal, obeying the hand that uses it, that of the writer. It means, in this life a subject should obey the Creator. In fact, all objects in the world are subservient to Allah SWT. In the Qur\'an it is stated that all objects on earth glorify and submit to Allah SWT. If even objects are subservient, why do many people deny and disobey Allah SWT?” Ustadz Darwis asked.
