JAKARTA, Public Relations of the Constitutional Court—The Constitutional Court received Aliansi Kawula Jogja Istimewa for an audience, Tuesday (9/4/2019) in the Conference Room of the Constitutional Court. The group visited the Court to express their voice regarding the suspension of GKR Hemas from the Regional Representatives Council (DPD). The Court’s Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah and Head of the Public Relations and Domestic Cooperation Department Fajar Laksono welcomed 40 members of the group.
Representing the group, Totok Sudarwoto expressed his wish that the case will run smoothly. He hoped that the Court process the case steadfastly and pass a decision that gives justice to the public. “Her [suspension] upset [us]. We then had the initiative to hold an audience to express our voice.” He also held an audience with the House of Representatives and the Ministry of State Secretariat.
In response, Guntur said that he would forward it to the [constitutional justices]. Nevertheless, he did not want to comment further on the case. “We’re bound by a code of ethics. I cannot comment on the substance of a case,” he explained. However, he asked the group not to worry because the Court processes all cases it receives based on existing mechanism, including the case related to GKR Hemas.
GKR Hemas is currently on suspension from DPD due to her political stance. She refused to acknowledge Oesman Sapta Odang as DPD Chairman. (Arif Satriantoro/LA/Yuniar Widiastuti)
