"Whoever we vote for, we must remain united. The law certainly provide guarantee. Therefore, we must uphold the law and justice," Justice Anwar said in front of the 146 participants.
Anwar said that as advocates, the technical assistance participants were a very powerful tool to help seek justice. "[You] must support various [political] parties. However, we must still defend the right, not the wrong, only for [personal] interest. [That is] because it is not in accordance with the existing regulations," he explained.
Ahead of the 2019 Simultaneous Election, the success of the Legislative and Presidential/Vice Presidential Elections Results Dispute Resolution not only depends on the Constitutional Court, but also on all stakeholders. "Therefore, I advise the participants not to be tempted and believe in those who said they would be able to help in the court proceedings with certain rewards," he said firmly.
Chief Justice Anwar also reminded the participants that bribery in the court was a despicable act. "But I\'m sure all the advocates here will definitely not be tempted. Because you know what is right and understand the sin. Therefore I would like to [humbly] invite all [of you] to guard the 2019 simultaneous elections [to stay] dignified and in accordance with existing laws," he explained.
At the end of his speech, Justice Anwar also advised that the participants oversee the democratic process in the 2019 Simultaneous Election to ensure that it run democratically and in accordance with the principles stipulated in the Constitution and legislation.
"Therefore, let us all make the 2019 elections democratic. As law enforcers we can oversee the democratic [process]. Once again, ladies and gentlemen, guard us, guard the Constitutional Court in handling the election cases," he concluded.
KAI President Siti Jamila Lubis had previously said that on this year\'s technical assistance, the participants were 146 KAI leaders from all regions. "Unlike the previous year, the number of participants this time is lower due to the limitations of each region representation in this technical training," she said.
Jamila also said that advocates play an important role in seeking justice for the general public. "As advocates, we can help anyone, but let us not be divided. Whoever is elected president, hopefully he will be trustworthy and truly protects his people," she said firmly.
The technical assistance was opened with the presentation of sign of participation for advocates by Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman accompanied by Secretary General M. Guntur Hamzah and KAI President Siti Jamila Lubis. The program will take place from Monday to Wednesday (21-23/1/2019). (Panji/LA/Yuniar Widiastuti)
