29 students from Gajah Mada University, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, Australian National University, Monash University, University of Sunshine Coast, and Macquarie University were officially welcomed by Secretary General of the Constitutional Court M. Guntur Hamzah in the opening of the internship program on Monday (7/1) in the Delegation Room of the Constitutional Court.

Guntur stated that internship is an annual Constitutional Court program, where the institution accepts students from various universities to learn the duties and functions of the Court as well as the issues related to the Constitutional Court as a constitutional judiciary in Indonesia.

“Internship is a regular Constitutional Court program every year. However, in the last three years, the Court couldn’t properly accept [interns] because [we had been handling election cases], which obliged the Court to allot time for the election dispute resolution. So, we could not offer the best to the interns. Only now do we accept student interns before preparing for the 2019 Elections,” said Guntur in the presence of the Head of the Bureau of Human Resources and Organization Mulyono.

Before concluding his speech, Guntur hoped that all students be able to use the internship from January 7 to February 8, 2019 by following all internship activities that the Court had prepared. In addition, he hoped that the interns be able to understand the Court’s code of ethics as a judiciary. Therefore, during their internship they will be able to interact with the mentors as well as Court staff so they can receive the knowledge that they expected. (Sri Pujianti/LA/Yuniar Widiastuti)
